Malibu 185 Pod Project

Just working on the helm layout today. Little test cut and everything fits perfect.

Like I said it's amazing how many gauges inboard needed. This looks way cleaner.

Going to get rid of the other plate below with old switches etc.

Yes it is nice finally seeing it coming together. It's been 8 years of talking about it, and now its finally getting done. I really gave inboards a try, but I think I am better off in this direction. I will tell you doing a podding project really isn't for everyone though. Learning a lot as I go through this.

8 years eh? Ok, now I don't feel so bad about sitting on this fence.
 
Looks like things are getting closer. Front helm steering and rigging are done. 2nd helm station is done. At the home stretch now.... This sure has been fun project, but I am kind of done now and want my boat back. :).

Just some final wiring/fuel stuff. Then finish off the rear cabinets/ floor hatch.boat 4.JPG

If my boat was 3000lbs lighter and I had some clearer examples of succesful ones I probably would have already. I'm actively looking for new boat options as well. At this point I need the boat fixed for this summer and starting a pod project wouldn't be wise. Whatever choice I make, it'll be a fall thing.

Yeah after doing this I would suggest that. I was almost too late.

You need your motors, and pod guy secured late fall. Things will come up. Even still look closely at different boat. Your cost to do that is fraction of what a little boat would be.
