Renfrew 2010 Reports

Sounds good. I am heading up there Friday. Maybe we'll see some of you out there.

Good luck.

PS, I am suprised to see that no one has asked where J Bouy is.:D

The J Buoy is the yellow buoy that is by the SW corner of the Swiftsure No Fishing Zone. I think it marks the Canada/US border and/or the shipping lanes (can't remember). I sure someone will correct me.

Long live wild salmon!!!
><))))>

Report news: I heard a 51 pounder was caught yesterday at Camper Creek. The big ones are out there!

On another note...below is a video I made of a Port Renfrew fishing trip in early June. Day one we chased halibut, day two salmon ... nothing big, but lots of fun. Weather was bad for the salmon day, but we persevered. We also did some experimenting with an underwater video camera...still have some learning to do, but it was fun to get some underwater perspective.

That was a great video, but were you using one of those islander reels that has a drag that when you reel in it can still run? It sorta looked weird when the fish were running and the reel wasent spinning at a consistent speed. Maybe im wrong though. I used one of those on a guide boat in ukee and hated it. That being probably because im used to a single action.

Hi steve

Not my reel, so can't say for sure, but I am fairly certain they are single action too.

At one point in the video the reel spun so fast it had that optical illusion of being still (like helicopter blades). So it could be that.

I don't have islanders myself, so not an expert...

;)
