Port Renfrew

anyone with some updates today (or even yesterday) as to what the rains have done for the coho movement?

Latest report I have...a sketchy one at best.

Sounds like fishing was fairly slow today, possibly a bit better, but not many boats are in yet, so hard to say.

A few coho caught, some way out in the Strait, at least one off East Point, so the fish are out there but "you have to cover several hundred square miles to find them". And then the cappers to put the glint back in your eye "you never know, could all change tomorrow" and "it only takes one fish to win".

Marina says a couple hundred derby tix sold so far, and expecting a lot more between now and closing, it's busy.

To go or not go, that is the question...

1 fish all derby ,didn't seem to be a lot out there, anyone use that scale at the marina? is it really off ? weighed there said it was 19, then rex weighed it with the digital said it was 16.3, he told me there was no way it could have read 19 lbs, regardless weather was nice

the P.R.M. fish scales have been >2 lbs. over for years.time to go digital...

The scales bang on but for the cheaters that pull down on the scale it will stay two pounds heavy.
John Lewis's fish was 47lbs and it was 46.5 hours later at the outfitters scale.Dave Mills got a 56lber and the next afternoon at outfitters it was 54something.Very close if you ask me.

Any reports of late, might be heading up this weekend.. Anybody know what size won the hoe derby. Boomer you guys in ??

Tournament Proven !

I was curious as well whether its worth making the trip to Renfrew for coho/springs this weekend or next? A few of my contacts stated it has been extremely slow--- thanks

A hockey buddy of mine stated he limited out on hali's anchoring at constance bank last week, two of them being 57 & 42. Maybe its worth staying close to home?? I heard Sooke is slow as well, any thoughts?

Derek heard it was slow in renny for the coho, as for sooke heard it was good for winter springs as for vic slow as well hali has slowed a bit. but in saying that every day changes and with rain in the forecast for us all you are playing a guessing game renny may turn up or go bad same with the other areas.

So best advice is go with your gut a pick a spot as this has been a very strange year for fish:(:(, keep us posted ill be going up to sayward next week to shoot an elk so im hunting animals now not fish.

good luck Wolf

If home is Victoria, it's not worth the road trip to Renfrew
there's halibut and winter springs locally
just my 2 bits...
