1981 Double Eagle gets a second chance

I have looked at that picture many times for ideas and planning my boat. Here is a Hourston that I really like the look of and think the builder nailed the proportions. 18’ boat but looks much bigger
That’s tastefully done

Wow. That's actually really good. Probably 5'-6" inside though.

I saw the original announcement of you starting your build and was quite excited to watch the progress. Keep us in the loop.
I hate to say it… but I got way too busy and didn’t keep my thread updated!! We are almost finished now.

I have this Garmin dv7 fishfinder that I am not going to use so if anyone following my build wants it its yours for $275 it does not have gps mapping. Just a fish finder with down view imaging. I have it listed on ised Nanaimo for $$300.

Two weeks ago I started working on the Double Eagle. I needed to sand away the paint where the floor was going to be bonded to the sides and transom. I put a 80 grit flap disc on my grinder and let that 11000 RPM paint removing marvel of a tool go to work. About 1 min into it I touch the edge of one of the bolts coming through the transom and the grinder kicked back and attacked my finder. In a matter of a half a second it chewed through my glove and a good chunk of my finger. Drove myself to the Port Alberni hospital and checked in to emergency. I waited for aprox an hour and a half before going up and asking how long will it take to see a Dr. “About 3 more hours” whas the answer. Hmm. No thanks. I drove to the pharmacy picked up some supplies and bandaged myself up. I finished doing the sanding with one very tender finger. My wife was not happy with me. Anyways two weeks later the finger is healing well and i was back working on the boat.

Enjoyed the sun shine today and was able to get a little work done on the boat. Test fit the trim tabs today. Here is a question for you the top of the actuators reach the 1/4 inch aluminum from the pod. So I eather have to cut out a notch so the actuators fit flush to the transom or put a small piece of 1/4 inch aluminum under the part of the actuator that is sitting away from the transom. I am for trimming and my paps is for adding a piece. Love to hear your thoughts

A little over a week ago I emailed 4 different companies, Prodigy Marine, Cutting Edge, Lifetimer and Canadian Maritime Engineering So far the only place to give me a price is CME. And thats because we went in person and asked them. I guess business is too good right now to worry about a little job like a pod. If anyone has any other recommendations I would appreciate it.
E and d manufacturing in arrowsmith do great aluminum work.

Maybe wrong but think your tabs are upside down
They are correct. There are several variations in Bennett tabs or similar. For example my tabs have a Finn the protrudes down. Just different models is all

Just came across this on Bennett site, in the image section
A spacer block that could be altered to fit accordingly to flange of your pod
Hope this is useful info

Floor is in. Its like finishing a chapter in a book. I just sat on the transom flipping through all the pictures I have taken of the gutting and the build so far. The floor will now get two layers of 1708 to finish it off. I still have the storage hatch opening to cut and finish making the hatch lid. Still a ton of work left to do. If anyones wondering it has taken 163 hrs to this point. I am keeping track of all costs and hrs. I am sure if I was to do this again I could cut the time by quite a bit.
