I noticed the 9.9 kicker has a hydrofoil.
Why would that be needed on a 27 ft boat?
Does it improve the efficiency of the kicker for trolling?

I saw that. I'd be surprised if it does anything on a boat that big. They are primarily for helping get on plane, reduce porpousing. Nice boat for a couple and a pretty good deal.

One of these would be more effective in steering control for a kicker at trolling speed than the fin for sure. On sale too.

Probably because it's also used as the main on the tender.
