I use 5-6', the same as I might use for an 11". The American guys I meet in Ukee use 18-36". We catch similar numbers. This may be a thing the fish don't care about.
I use them exclusively and run 5 1/2 to 6' leaders on bait and spoons and 24"-36" on hoorchies. Basically the same leader lengths I'd run on 11" flashers.
Last year I used them under a Dipsy Diver in a local lake for Kokanee and it worked magic. Used 16" leader with a squid hootchie tipped with shrimp and couldn't get them off. When fishing for Coho in the shallows, I exclusively use them with a 3' floro leader + Spoons and they work great.
Cleaner setup, less drag and more effective hook set.
yes, I have used them with spoons. I followed their instructions and used a 4' leader. the blue/ glow, and the green edged for springs and the red edged for cohos. Cohos usually with a 1.5 Apex, and a shorter 30-36" leader.
