1981 Double Eagle gets a second chance

Good day today. Weather was great, gave the boat a wash as the dust was everywhere. Put the top back on. Put the trim rings on I made for around the interior lights. Slowly but surely it is coming together. And a picture to show the wonderful Double Eagle flare.

Looks great Dan…. Ordered carpet yesterday thx for the info 👍

Putting some trim pieces on the roof to cover the seams in the carpet headliner. Also enlarged the hole at the base of the window in order to run the wires for lights and wiper motors. I remember when dismantling everything I was surprised that all the wiring went straight through holes drilled in the fiberglass without any grommets or loom. I am putting rubber grommets anywhere a wire runs through or will put loom around it. Overall I am happy with today’s progress

Top is now bolted to the hull and it is solid as a rock. Question I have is, when I paint the top should I remove my fasteners or paint over them. I think I like the look of having the stainless steel showing but what are your thoughts.

Now things are starting to get real. Spent about 5 hrs yesterday sanding the topside and the hull getting her ready for primer. Unfortunately that will have to wait until spring. Or I might rent a couple good heaters if I get impatient. Using the laser level to get everything exactly right.

They are mounted. That is a huge milestone that makes me very happy. My dad gave me a hand and it took about 4 1/2 hrs. Second one was about 1/3 the time of the first ad we figured it out.

Doing a great job Dan, pod/ motors look awesome. Are you going to spray the upper structure or run it the way it is?

It will get a full spray job once the weather permits. Also waiting to spray it before windows go in.

Cant wait until it’s all done, stoked for the maiden voyage, we’re gonna slay em!
🤣🤣. I’m exhausted from watching all the work you’ve done. Way better deal for me, with a friend like too take me out in our new pimped out double eagle! 🤣🤣 👌🏻💪🏻👊🏻

Consider Alexseal 501 w/ roll additive. Not very often I go on about a product…. But this stuff is magic. Very near spray quality from a roller without all the hassle. Not cheap.. but truly amazing stuff. And I don’t know what I’m doing 😳

Is that a two part paint? I will look it up.

Andy “ Boatworks Today” is a great resource and is sponsored by Alexseal. Check out vid attached. I found it locally through Canadian Marine Parts.
Yes it’s a very user friendly 2 part w/ UV inhibitors, you can buff it, repairable… truly amazing stuff… rockstar results.
