Hey all, we are going to do a hali derby based out of Mills Landing this May long weekend - May 21, 22 and 23.

We will be looking to raise a few bucks to start a chinook net pen release project out of Bamfield Harbour.

Cash prizes, gear prizes, fishing trips and accomodations all up for grabs!!

Gonna hash out further details over the next little bit and add to this as they develop. Please come have some fun and help get some more fish returning inshore with us!!!

Osama,

We were the last group of guys up to Mills last late September. Anyway, if you remeber we only have an 18'er and have to choise our days off shoer very carefully. Are the hali's still inshore late May?
 
Should be a good trip, there will be lots of fish inching down the surf line and would not be surprised to see them swing into the sound if there is bait. Should be a decent number of Columbia Springers hanging about, so well worth the trip to Bamfield. Not to mention, there should be some beers and b.s. happening which adds up to good times all around. Thanks O for organizing.
 
Osama, keep me posted on the Bamfield net pen idea, I'm working with Bob Cole and some of the guys from Port to get one set up for Alberni...lots of people are onboard with these projects and they have a lot of merit. It would be cool to see one in Bamfield too if there's local support. Hopefully the wind dies down for you guys out there and you can start really pounded on the butts soon...gotta get em while you can this year!!
 
Ya, gotta do what we can to get fish back inside.

Poett Nook does it as well. Sarita has some enhancement... if we keep doing this stuff...


And it's a great excuse to do the first hali trip of the year!!!
 
Osama, what's the details on the derby? Maybe the new boss to throw some info up on the site? PM me with the details. Hope things are good with you bud.

thought Jeff said the weekend after Easter was the Derby , my bad ,
we will be there April 28th til May 1, aswell as the Derby May long weekend with the Striper...

Gonna be great. You'd better be out here in that new ride!! Some great prizes and cash up for grabs. Gonna be fairly small scale, just outta Mills, but we'll likely have 20 boats or more fishing it!
 
Hello Osama, you back on land yet? We are about 11 days away from the long weekend, were you guys able to sort out the details for the derby yet? Is it still a go? Was looking to get out for the derby, have some fun and meet a few of you guys, but now have got company coming that weekend, so was thinking of trying to get out for at least one day,,, hopefully. You will be running the derby out of where? Just to know where to go to sign up if we can make it out.
