The OFFISHAL Vancouver 2011 Reports Thread

There is a decent ramp (with very small dock) at Gibson's Marina right next to the office/store there. Bit of a run from Gibson's if you have a small boat but in light winds thats an option plus you could fish Gower/Camp Byng/Roberts on up.

Thanx guys I'll pass the info on...sammy

hole in the wall

Fished sat, 1 good bite had it on for a minute, then lost it. Seemed like a good size fish. There wasn't much action from the dozen or so boats working the area. Anybody else have any luck? Am thinking about trying T10s next weekend. Maybe sand heads or Coal docks.

Was on the sunset- hole in the wall tack Sat. as well . One humpy on an anchovy , lol. One wild coho on army truck. No springs seen. Fished Defense Sun. morn., lost 11 lb. spring behind boat, saw some pinks rolling around , won't be long now.

Fished west van today was pretty quiet, although I did fish 2 young guys outta the water after thier canoe capsized on them, lucky the wife happened to be watching them in the rough water
and I was just about dropping gear, I heard her gasp then yell at me that they rolled under, I pulled the kicker and hit the main and was on them within a couple minutes
another boat assisted and managed to right the canoe and tow to shore, the young guys were alright had their life jackets on, lost some gear, cell phones and ID, but their lucky thats all they lost!
water was pretty rough today and wind was blowing petty good too, too rough for a canoe for sure. dropped them back at the dock at ambleside, the other boat towed the canoe in there too.
went back out and fished another couple hours till 330ish but the fish gods werent smiling on us today.

HITW Sunday

Fished Sunday, from HITW to down past the tennis courts. Back and forth from 7am-4pm, except for a 90 minute lunch at the Boathouse. 2 first timers (f.) on the boat.

1 grilse around 8am.

Double header of springs around 10:30am - lost BOTH at the boat. A 10+ spit the hook, a 20+ broke off. Saw both fish, both almost within net reach but it wasn't to be.
Running 4 rods, both hit on the top rods at the same time. 1 rod at 20', one at 30'. One on Money Hoochie and one on Anchovie.

Then 1 pink on Anchovie around 2:30pm way up past the tennis court.

Had a nice bow eyecandy once it got warm out. Pics were taken, should have one up soon.

It was a NICE day to be out on the water, everyone got cooked. Too bad we couldn't land one of those springs.

And somehow I lost my new C&R net out there...

Fishing seems dead slow out in Van in the past couple weeks eh? I've been over in the gulf islands a few times and it's slowed down there as well. Have my boat in Van for 2 more weeks so want to get out this coming weekend. Anyone finding fish around? Perhaps further up Howe Sound? Has anyone been out to T10 or the other arms of the Fraser lately? Should be some springs rolling in soon there. And these damn Cap coho sure are late this year too. Would appreciate any recent reports in addition to the ones already posted on this thread... which are mostly not that hot. cheers

Those red [Cap]springs should be showing anytime soon if my memory serves me right, they are nice lookin fish............caught several dragging small cutplugs with 2oz before dark along the marker reef on 10 pound coho leader .......OH YAH!!!!!

I headed out the south arm today , wanting to try the area due to it now open and knowing things were slow in other local Vancouver areas, so they must be here eh ! Yup at least one small white spring was there for me after about 2 1/2 hours on the water (7:30-10).

I was fishing in 200+ water and the downrigger was set at 45' using a red flasher and a green/white/red coyotee spoon and moving quickly at 4. on the GPS.

I opened em up and he was a busy bugger with 3 , 4' (anchovies or maybe they were herring) in him.

So it looks like the Banana might give us another good kick at the chins !

That's quite the compliment Blackmax. Thank You. Get ready...get all your gear tied for Pinks and Sox, get your anchovies ready for Springs...and wait for the word...because it's coming....and soon.

Aug-17 I'm back in Steveston. Fished lake Superior in Thunder Bay and little lakes there for Walleye this last month, can't wait to load up the Whaler with some Humpies! They should be thick by then!

I am going to fish coal docks/terminal area on Sat. Anybody been out that way? How is the fishing? I will report back.

I'll be out tomorrow somewhere between howe sound and the south arm??
if anyone see's me give me a wave or the finger or something.

Long Weekend in Geogia Strait.

Myself and a buddy will be hunting around this weekend. possible areas are Gabriola, Howe Sound, and Vancouver Harbour and outside. Seems like there are a few fish around and we plan to find them. Loaded for bear, we are. I will try to post tomorrow if I find any.

Tight lines guys.

A buddy and I took a new boat owner/angler out on his boat tonight and taught him how to run his riggers and fish out around bell buoy towards north arm. Had a good strike and passed tthe rod to the newbee and instructed him to
Keep the line tight and tip up.......well you can probly guess what happened.
Oh well I guess we were all new once.
140 ft of water 45 ft on the rigger, chovie, green flasher.
Saw a few pinks jumping.
