Podding

Times completely up no boat found, and ran out of options. This boat market sucks!

And we are away! Goes in for podding mid Feb. Now the work begins! The plan is 150hp suzuki new or used with new 9.9 EFI suzuki. If anyone has any leads on used power please let me know. Guy podding is reccomending a 25".

Installing hydraulic steering as part of project, and new boat trailer.
And boom ! $ 25-30 K
but you'll have a good reliable outfit

If anyone is on the hunt for a Mercuisier 3.0LX .Alpha Gen2 leg let me know. Motor/Leg coming out soon in about 6 weeks. Has freshwater kit with it and new manifold. Probably eventually need rebuild at some point as it has 2700 hrs. Still has good compression and runs good.

Got her home tonight. The base of the pod goes just over the garboard drain.

Seems solid and we'll thought out.

Do you remember when your pod went on if you had to add any enforcement to transom? Pod guy was asking if transom had a shelf. I think it already does.

Good on ya Spring, it was a tough decision for me too but once you decide to pod, it just feels right. Spending more money on my Volvo leg and inboard really didn’t.

Yeah it comes down reliability more honestly. I really wanted a larger boat but I am not paying these COVID prices right now. You have old inboard boat going for 50k. It is insane. If you asked me this 3 years ago I would have said no way. But yes podding is a 35k and upwards commitment and really not for everyone.

Here’s my pod project. It’s a hull extension actually. Closed in the transom where I had a drop down gate to allow engines to tilt up. Turned that into storage and a tackle station. Working on bottom paint now to finish up.

Looks like a very well thought out working platform. You do nice work..
Great Job!

Thanks, had a fair bit of time on the water noting down all the little things that could work better to make my time more efficient. Moving onto other areas on the boat where I can find small improvements. The possibilities are endless. Beer helps the creative process immensely.

Hey searun can I just drop my boat off at your place then call me when it's ready? Looks like fantastic work, super well planned.
Careful what you wish for...it may cost a lot of coin...I got a tad carried away. But to be honest, it was so much fun. Nice creative way to forget about other stuff and get lost in thinking up new ways to make the boat a little nicer to fish from. Its my second home. Works pretty good as a dog house too.

Try sharing these pics to give few ideas on couple of adaptations to create better storage and usability at the tackle station. Hope the pics show enough detail. The small tray in front has a plastic dowel with holes drilled to hang spoons and hoochies as change ups. The other spot by bait box is to store hali weights. Included slotted flasher holder so I can have 8 flashers ready for quick change. As u can see I’m and ADD fisher - always getting bored changing up gear when the bite dies down.
