Nanaimo Area

Got down to Thrasher on Saturday... 3 fish... All on Anchovies 160ft.. Biggest was 23lbs..

Fished for three hours last night from around 530 till 830. Marked fish but nothing biting dropped the line to 175 in front of the fingers and couldn't keep the pinks off picked the gear and ran over to snake island notice a ton a bait so dropped the lines. Marked tons of bait and fish had a screamer long line release and then boated three mid teenagers in a row all in about a half hour. Fish seemed to be holding just off the north tip of the reef and all the way out to about 250 feet but caught all the fish in closer to the reef.

Fished this AM from 7-9:30, lot's of little action with a few undersize and 5 shakers but nothing to get excited about. Had one rod deeper and one about 90ft. They seemed to like bait today, but man it you have to monitor the rod like a hawk or you'll be dragging a half chovie around in no time.

Perfect night to drop the lines! Unfortunately after 5minutes of trolling and a 58cm spring, the seal in my fuel line connector broke. Unfortunately I was sharing 1 tank between both motors for the first and last time. After an hour of paddling, my hero (guy in small runabout) saved me a couple hours of paddling. Thanks again, glad to fish in the waters with such good people around.

What a great day on the water! Landed a nice 22lb red, and a nice 12lb coho(unfortunately returned to the drink). And to my surprise almost 300 prawns, and to top it off 5 nice keeper crabs. Gotta say, i think this was the best day I've had all summer. How did the rest of you fair out there?image.jpg

that's awesome good deal on the prawns..spent half the day between the dock and the bay trouble shootin my outboard.. Nice spring too you had an awesome day fishing! cant wait to get my prawn gear back out there!

I was prawning around gabriola, and that is all you'll get out of me haha. I've got a few spots that seem to produce pretty well. Ya it was a great day out there. Hope your outboard doesn't keep ya from dropping your lines for too long Jeffy, I'm sure the good weathers not gunna last forever. I'm always open to exchanging prawn spots if you wanna pm me.

Is this a good example of an oxymoron?

No. It's alliteration, but taken out of context, a mildly pornagraphic needless use of redundancy, followed by a rhetorical question which got more of an answer than it deserved. 8 more days till school starts i55.

Thanks for the reports Salty, nice to hear theres still fish kickin around this time of the season. Did you have much action besides the 2 keeper size? Were you out far or closer into shore? Looks like the nice weather may be gone now, gonna have to put the canvas top back on unfortunately. Hope the rains don't signal the fish to leave just yet! What kinda problems u having with your motor jeffy? I spent the better part of the off season this year dialing mine in and fixing problems the 2 po couldnt figure out.

Fixed motor today finally, new motor just had some gummed up carbs, took awhile to fig out but it is fixed now, just in time for 4 days of rain..I do have a roof and am not afraid of rain :)

Caught a nice #25 off neck Point Sunday evening on a green and white needlefish hootchi
