Jigging herring

Try down at the campsite at Deep Bay. I haven't jigged herring there for about three years now, but it was always a good producer. Air Force Beach used to be good, but the last few years haven't really produced as much as it used to. My opinion, there has been such an over fishery of herring in this area that the amount of herring has really declined the shore fishery. French Creek was doing really good the other day. I drove the Old Island Highway back to Courtenay the other day, and the herring were spawning all the way from French Creek well up into Baynes Sound.

Just look for the milky water, should be able to jig anywhere the water is milky. Almost turquoise looking.

Thanks Islander. I made the rounds yesterday from Cape Lazo to French Creek. There was no action anywhere. French Creek was jammed up with tourists who want to see the action on the water. Lots of milky water off the break wall but no takers. The old story "you should have been here yesterday" came up a few times.
