heading west need advice

Planning a trip from Calgary to Tofino early May. Going to be going the south route thru Creston etc. Ending up in Tofino area for a few days. I have fished the east coast not the west so need to know a few things. It is worth fishing from shore if a guy has the time, and if so do you need a license(Ocean). Second any nice spots along they way that are worth checking out. My wife will be with, so it has to be easy access. Thanks so much for your time, and looking forward to your replies. I am sure Tofino is beautiful engough even if I can't fish, but hoping to have both

Probably better to go to Ucluelet and find a guide, good fishing for Columbians, they are a heavy, short migrating spring salmon well worth the trip. Yes you need a licence, your guide will look after you, check the Internet under salmon guides, have a good trip.
