What are the DFO regs. for transport of crab after reaching shore and cooking and cleaning them. or does the shell have to remain,
until getting home. The regs seem to require the shell to stay on
until reaching home. no matter how long it takes.
I've tried to reach fisheries. no luck.

Thank you, islanderguy for the website page. The answer is there.

"the carapace of any crab caught must be retained until the fish has been consumed."

So I can cook and clean crabs on the beach as long as I keep the
shells until I get home.

the carapace (shell) must remain attached to the body of the crab until consumed or you arrive at your ordinary residence.

NOT must be retained until the fish has been consumed.

I do not know how you can clean a crab without removing the carapace from the body.

How would you bring home your two day limit? Wouldn't the crab start to go bad?

MUST Keep the LIDS (Backs) ON!! The cooked Whole Crab keeps Ok on ice in cooler. Keep the crab well drained and in seperate bags (2 per bread bag). We put the name of who caught them and when. They will keep a good 5 days. Use your nose for freshness.:D Be Careful of all the Regs and watch for closures too.

Met with DFO officer yesterday, it's at the officer's descretion
If you keep the shells(including the ones eaten) and they are legal size, and not exceeding possesion limit, and you have no small
crab bodies.
He would have no problem.
