Downrigger spools

another option for those not wanting to pony up the dough for aluminum spools is to just buy the bottom half - the thinner half that breaks. My Scotty dealer sells them for $12 USD. Buy a few and repair the spools yourself. Saves a ton of dough but still a PITA if it just ruined your day of fishing. Or buy aluminum spools and never worry again .

The other benefit is you can spool up 600+ ft of braid and deep troll for offshore kings where theyre marking at 300+ ft.

Bah, my finest moments certainly weren't my smartest ones. Lol
i fish from spring till fall. it’s honestly in great shape. if and when i do change it i’m going to gun down to 200 lb braid. i honestly think the high speed riggers are hard on braid. i still use my trusty 1106’s
