Derby's Canuck emporium

Hmm so how does it work now with these wild cards?

From eman's link above....scroll down a bit.

16 teams will qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The format is a set bracket that is largely division-based with wild cards.

The top three teams in each division will make up the first 12 teams in the playoffs. The remaining four spots will be filled by the next two highest-placed finishers in each conference, based on regular-season record and regardless of division. It is possible for one division in each conference to send five teams to the postseason while the other sends just three.

In the First Round, the division winner with the best record in each conference will be matched against the wild-card team with the lesser record; the wild card team with the better record will play the other division winner.

The teams finishing second and third in each division will meet in the First Round within the bracket headed by their respective division winners. First-round winners within each bracket play one another in the Second Round to determine the four participants in the Conference Finals.

Home-ice advantage through the first two rounds goes to the team that placed higher in the regular-season standings. In the Conference Finals and Stanley Cup Final, home-ice advantage goes to the team that had the better regular-season record -- regardless of the teams' final standing in their respective divisions.

The Oilers won tonight over LA which I think puts the Canucks into the Playoffs. The pressures off but I hope they come to play on Thursday with the Coyotes anyway as we have tickets for that game.

I guess I should have read the fine print. So, unless Calgary chokes, we will play the flames in the first round. Well, that's some light travel for the first round. The flames are playing well right now, so would likely be a close series.

What a treat last nights game was!! Back from Baja-usual crappy cold, feeling sh#tty-curled up in the ez chair, half stoned on cold meds-thought I was hallucinating -What a totally together game-a few lapses but so much fun to watch!!

\Sorry to hear that you are sick after getting home from the warm land but it was fun to watch the power play get some goals lately

Let's put the oil to bed, get home ice and then get ready to snuff the flames.
The key will be how well coach preps the boys on handling that first line with Johnny hockey.
Keep them at bay...keep up with the decent goaltending, stay healthy and we should be able to move on.

Think this will be Willies defining moment for so far for this season on how he preps to handle that first line.

Gonna be a fun series

Jackel.... Good luck in the draft lottery bud! I was feeling for Ya when the Sabres clinched dead last yesterday.

On the plus side, you should have minimal crowds at the golf course next week. :p
