Fished the Green can tonight since it's been slow up north, was slow down there too. Lots of boats driving around didn't see any fishes kept. There was a few wild coho and a couple of undersized chinook picked up and released again but overall pretty slow.

Hey there,

I'm looking for 1 or 2 guides for this Saturday, Aug 14th out of Campbell River. We're coming up there with a big group of guys and want to fish and cruise the area. We're staying at Painter's but our boats (we have 2 already) will be moored at Discovery Marina. We need a couple guides with decent sized cruiser capable of handling 4-6 guys per boat. We want to spend a full morning fishing and then do an afternoon cruising around. We have a total of 20 guys so we'll have 4 boats. We need a guide(s) who are fine with having a few guys on their boat and are flexible with where we fish & boat to.

If you are interested or know of anyone with a boat who would be please email info@exposure.travel and include "Campbell River Fishing Guide" in the subject line. Or feel free to call 1.866.605.4845

Thanks a lot, Cory

Salt Shaker - it's slow out right now what with all the commercial boys fishing. There are a few sockeye being caught but it's really not that great and the Chinook fishing even down Thirstin, Hall area has been pretty slow the last couple of days too.
Course every day is a new day. Let us know how it turns out for you.

Just heard news of things really picking up around Green Sea and Chatham, buddy was just up there and hit 6 springs between 15-28 pounds and 5 sockeye!:)

Just got back from browns bay. Only fished greensea for a bit from about noon to 230 with the kids...nothing, didn't see anyone catching anything either. Oh well, we had out of town guests with little kids and so we just went and pulled up a few lings, etc. Going to try tomorrow or Monday with a serious try at the sockeye. Will give you an update.

btw, the commercial seiners (test fishers) have been slaying them....but they only have to net them....not actual entice them to bite. I will try some of the suggestions on the sockeye thread.

happy fishing;)

Tried Chatum yesterday for one low 20s spring. One sockeye or pink long range released. Saw maybe 10 fish boated for a fleet of 10 OBM whalers and another 10 charter and otherwise boats. Saw one school of pinks going through on the surface.... thats it.

Talked of one guy at the ramp that scratched up a couple of soxs at Deepwater bay..... :(

Picked up two sockeye this morning. Couple of shaker springs and 3 Pinks at Greensea. Lost Three Sockeye at the surface :( Fish are definitely on the way down the straight.

Out sunday morning at greensea, hit two undersize springs, one pink, lost two sockeye at the boat, and landed a very nice 10-12lbs wild coho and probably had 5 hits or more all in 2 hrs. Counted 45 boats and everyone was catching something.

friday morning was nuts with socks. And today all morning and early afternoon was crazy 80ft. Dont no what it will be like with this weather change Tightlines Snowwhite ps it was sephead

Fished Sayward yesterday and it was amazing. Sockeye and Orcas everywhere. Got our limit of Sockeye for three people in a couple of hours.

North of Campbell River should be hot fishing for the next few weeks :D

Best lure for sockeye is a orange/red squirt with a 30" leader and a green flasher.

WOW yesturday was a boat gong show, I should have taken some video. Fishing was decent till around 8:30am then it slowed right down. There was boats EVERYWHERE, at one point I counted 97 boats between SepHead and Deepwater. That's WAY too many boats for that area.
Don't forget folks you can take a total of 4 salmon a person regardless of what combined species you end up with.
Also keep an eye out for Coho, as you are only aloud the clipped adipose (fin near the tail) Coho's.
If you get lucky and manage to scoop your 4 for everyone on board, your salmon fishing for the day is over.
