I had to run to the Sunshine Coast yesterday and chickened out when I saw upwards of 40 knots at pam rocks, doh! Even the Langdale boat was bouncing around making for some frothy water.

Well done, guys, for getting out!!

I See Prawn traps within the sponge reef boundaries off Passage Island all the time.
This is one of the bigger fines I have seen. Should be more like this IMO.

This should be standard issue fines
Most seem way to light

Why do you think that? From my understanding they are fairly rare and sensitive. A bunch of cannonball hits and hookups to a fragile animal doesn't sound like a good idea.
I've been diving the waters local to Vancouver and Howe sound for 30 years.
They are very common.
An old dive buddy that worked for the Vancouver aquarium laughed when I told him about the closures.
No one talks about the seafloor damage done by commercial anchorage in the area.

Those sponge closures are nonsense. Should never have happened.
Just another move to squeeze out the sporty.
There’s a lot of other areas to drop your traps and fish. If they said no bottom contact unfortunately people would still do it just like they still fish in the area when it’s closed. Good to see that the language ignorance claim didn’t work.
