Well folks... my 2 cents from Alberta.
We used to go to Sooke at least 3 times a year.... not just for fishing... but loved the area. We did book fishing of course as we were able to get some tasty salmon for our freezers for the winter as it is hard to get out here. In the end, we bought our own boat... and decided to branch out and try other beauty spots on your amazing Island... love it there.....
Wolf... well... have to agree... from the outside, it does seem like the lower portion of the island is hit the hardest. Even for us who bring our own boat now... we all head north..... BUT WAIT!!!!! There is more!!!
Less than 3 hours ago.. Horgan announced no travelling into BC unless you want a fine! And further more... if you live in an "area"... you are to stay there! Fraser Valley people.. .better not go to the island. Live in Sooke and would like to fly fish the interior of BC... nope!
So... do the regs matter this year as much? I dont think so..
If I were lucky enough to live in any of your shoes.. I would be working together to try get anything done.
I have personally fought the Federal and Provincial governments for another cause and recently won!
It took a couple years.. but I did it.
I finally got some footing when I started sending invites for coffee meetings directly to people in charge, they are obligated to listen, and I found one person that opened some doors for me.
So as an outsider... (and sure to get some flack on this forum.. go for it).... I think now would be the time for you all to try get somewhere by contacting anyone who will listen. It works. Since Horgan has closed your entire economy down now, please go do something that night make a difference.
We from Alberta love coming out there and sampling your wares... we gladly pay for it, and we appreciate it.
You have the power to make changes.. bottom line is that it is your government. You can fight.... and trust me... you can win!
I did!
Regards,
(hope to see you all soon)
