Sooke Reports - Spring/Summer 09

Hey Poppa, i was also one who heard this, but on that same day i also was checked by a DFO officer, who assured me it was to be open on the 8th, so i think it was DFO from the start who misslead a few of us. Thanks to striperjack on here for clearing that up prior to the false opening!

-Steve

Hey fishflyguy89, too bad you didn't get the DFO guys name [}:)]
Even in renfrew, it was only open to Wilds in the bay only.

Out tonight, 2 hatchery Coho's and 4 wild in 4 hours fishing. both hatchery fish were around 10 pounds. wild were in 10-14range large tomic spoons in white and yellow were the ticket! no shakers! :D

90-110ft

Fished off Otter Point and around Secretary on Tuesday. One keeper coho 12lbs, one spring 9lbs and one pink. Lots of shakers. We turned back 4 wild coho mostly around 10lbs but one was noticeably larger than our keeper coho. Was steady but not hot.

Fished last night for about 6 wilds one a mid teen for sure.

Tailspin where did you hit those fish this morning, I was out this morning and talked to 2 other guide boats in the same area(west race) and it was dead dead dead for coho and shakers were worse then I've seen this year?

Thanks Tailspin, I will be out there tomorrow giving it a go by my self in an open camp 14.5 hourston. I will put this info to good use as I can use all the help I can get.

Was out today off Christopher Point in 250 feet of water 105 on riggers. Lot's of shakers, but nothing to speak of. No Coho today. Absolutely an awesome day out there with lots to see. I can't wait for the Winter Spring fishing, it looks like it is going to be a season.

My dad was out today, 4 hours from bedfords to the head 4 wild all around 10# and 1 hatch released around 7 pounds.

No shakers, all on tomic 7" spoons and betsey flashers. 100ft on the rigger

Thanks beemer, I will give that a try next time. Maybe I will pick up a 7" tomic and give that a try as well and see if I can land a nice coho.

Was out yesterday from 8 till noon and didn't see a fish caught between a dozen boats or so... (Secretary 500ft) Other than a dude netting what seemed to be a 10 inch rainbow trout!!!! :( Might try deep next time... although I have a real problem telling myself to drop the balls deeper than 90ft when I fish for Ho's.... What colors on the 7 inch tomics? Might be fun. Hey Justin! What channel ya on! Been tryin to hale ya lately... You out Saturday?

2 hours fishing this morning...in 450-600' deep water, from Harbour mouth to trailer park.

Probably hooked 10-12 fish, but no keepers. A bunch of small coho and feeder spring shakers, 3 nice coho, one 7, two 10-12 pounds or so, all wild. Most of the hits green flasher, green hootchie, all 100-120' deep.

When it was on, pretty good action, hit every few minutes, and if there wasn't a hit in 10 minutes, better check the gear, would be a shaker on it.

Heard some chatter on the radio about someone catching a halibut off the bluffs, 40 pounds while drifting, but couldn't quite catch it...if it's you, post it up!
