Hi All,

Want to try my hand at jigging up a few salmon when I visit my folks in Sooke- Becher Bay in my cartopper.

Never jigged for them before- what areas should I focus on? I hear the tide can be a fun ride around there?
Any areas I should look at when the tide moves?
I have some jigging spoons/minnows I canbuy bait at Cheanuh?
Your suggestions would be great.
I've been reading the forums, but everyone seems to be trolling. And I don't have downriggers.
Thanks.

First thing is how big is the boat? Those waters can get ugly this time of year for a small boat. You could try fishing the trough straight out from the marina, you'll see it on a chart. The marina doesn't really have too much for supplies. For gear try Eagle Eye Outfitters in Sooke (not sure on the name), or Island Outfitters in Victoria. Get links for weather, tides, charts n' fishin' reports here:

My boat is a little 12 footer. Typical little lake troller, basically. I've got oars and a 7.5 'rude. Runs like a charm.
Thanks for the web link.
I'll try to dig up a depth chart of the Bay.

careful thats not really an ocean boat and with 80+kmh winds forcasted for the entire island the next couple days thats no place to be in a 12fter.
