wonder if any one could suggest the best sounder I guy could get for say $500 can.
have any of you used the 3D model from hummingbird?

Hey Brutus: I strongly suggest you consider a Lowrance or Eagle sounder. There technology is far superior to Hummingbirds in my experiances. I'm not familiar with this 3D gimic, but it probably has limited usefullness. Just my opinion, hope it helps. Eman

Ditto on that but if you can wait and save up more money you will be happier if you spend a little more. I use the lowerace mc-15 and its got the gps, mapping sounder all in one its a bit of an investment but well worth it.

Good luck Wolf

I would recommend either a Eagle Seafinder 480DF (about. $370) or a Lowrance X126DF (about $520). Both have 480X480 pixel resolution and dual frequencey modes so you might actually see some fish arches (i.e. real actual fish).

Sharp hooks and full traps!

Lowrance all the way.480x480 pixels is awesome and dual frequency is ideal for fishing.
