Still think they have structured the Nylander deal to trade him to a team like Carolina in the summer. Nylander is just a $20 million rental for the leafs this year! Carolina needs scoring, after this year with all the up front money Nylanders gets, his cap hit is 6.9, but Carolina is a budget team and doesn't care about that, they only care what they are on the hook to have to actually pay him, which is less than 5 million for 5 more years. Replaces the scoring they lost when they traded Skinner because they knew they would lose him as a UFA this year, and they can afford to part with a top 4 defenceman like Pesce. Leafs can still probably sign Marner, Mathews, Kapanen and add a defenseman from Carolina which they desperately need. Once they shed Marleau's salary (trade) and Hainsey's (UFA) that frees up 9.2 Million.

The Leafs need another top 4 d man for the playoffs, think Nylander is the trade bait?
 
Canucks traded someone named Michael Carcone this morning to the Leaf for Josh Leivo a 6'2 210 LW. Should be an upgrade on Leipsic and now someone else will need to be waved or sent to Utica. Possibly Gaudette or maybe Gagne will be sent packing again. Leafs would have lost him via waivers so made sense with Nylander's return. Thank you Leafs.

Gardiner will be gone he is a liability in their own end, how many times can a guy dump it up the middle for a give away, he reminds me of Todd Gill :eek:, Dermott will take his spot, very good in his own end. Will be interesting to see if Nylander looks good or not when he starts to play. **** Leivo to the Nucks, WTF, i thought he showed real good this year, there is something babs doesn't like about him, Nucks get a good one there. FishT will be really hitting the pipe hard today :)
 
I hope Leino is an upgrade on Leipsic. I still don't want the Canucks to do too good. #tankforhughes
 
Announced today right on cue with the Leafs Nylander signing the NHL has increased the cap to $83m from $79.5 or a 4% increase for next season. Timely. Leafs got a like that along with NHLPA. Vancouver,it doesn't matter much for now.

Dermot got sent down to the AHL today. Babs is Barbara Streisand's nickname, lol

He never left they had to technically send him down until they dealt Josh, he is on the line up for tonights game, you and Barbara now thats a fine pair.
 
Well my Leafs stole one tonight, good teams find a way to win. I see the Nucks are on another streak hopefully they can keep it going to get that top draft pick again, Lievo scores in his first game and on his first shot, i did like him with the Leafs just never seemed to get the opportunity to play much. GO NUCKS

Yah, Lievo looked better than most forwards and has something to prove so I am hoping he is an upgrade. Well coached by the look of it. As for the rest the same perplexing issue about defensive zone coverage is so apparent. Another tough non call on the Virtanin hit, should have been a major and reviewed by the league. Two in a row now with the Reilly non call on Edler. Tanev has not been the same since recovering from latest injury. As for Del Zaster he is what can I say Del Gottago.
 
Delzotto can always be counted on to take a stupid penalty when one is needed! What happened to the improved penalty kill with all the new fourth line defensive specialists. Wild just scored at will on PP.
 
Ok hockey fans we have a couple of streaks on the line tonight, lets hope the Leafs can make it 6 in a row and the Nucks 4 in a row :D , fingers crossed i hate to see a couple of good streaks stopped tonight....
 
Not the leafs. Still on a 6 game streak with no losses in regulation. 5-0-1.
20-8–1 overall.

I will take the win. 2 out of 14.
Nashville defence cheated all night in our defensive zone and paid for it as the Canucks finally found a way thru the coverage. Nashville riddled with injuries and playing on the road. Sound familiar. Give them credit they kept coming as good teams do. Canucks defence again still struggled in the third but it's a good feel win at least for the boys.
As for the Leafs, played badly for 2 periods against Detroit but unable to find a way to pullout a win in OT. Again I guess good teams can do that.

A yup, fricking brutal for 40 minutes, Sparks has not looked good at all in net, if Freddy goes down we are in for a tough ride. I see your boys broke their streak you better get on the telly and give them a talking too, what the hell are they thinking :rolleyes:
 
Two new streaks to start again tonight, tough call for you Nucks fans cheer for the Bruins or Canada's team the Maple Leafs:p Be ready to fire up the bowls early as the game stars before 420....
 
Leafs winless since Nylander came back. Big surprise after sitting out he is goaless, pointless, and looks useless. Send him to the Marlies to play himself into shape.
 
3 words to describe last nights game as the grinch would say, STINK, STANK, STUNK :D Hey at least the Nucks didn't lose. Funny night in the nhl a lot of blow out scores, Preds are in a funk, dam Tampa is looking good. Leafs +25, Nocups -19
