Renfrew- On or Off Shore?

When I see people referring to Port Renfrew in their posts, and the responses deal with both halibut and salmon, may I assume that the reference is to the offshore (Swiftsure) banks, and not to anything closer in (which may be accessible to a smaller boat)?

Yes to that assumption....I would have to assume halibut is 99% fished at swiftsure banks. There are also loads of smaller springs and coho out there as well. Close in fishing (ie camper) is for the big springs and can work for the smaller boats (we saw a 12 footer out there when I went a couple weeks back, but I wouldn't go out there with less than 15-16 foot)...

Heard the boyz in Renny on the vhf talking of real slow fishing off Camper again today? Most are still going offshore. Not a good sign for Sooke!

I've heard the same thing Maddog. However I did hear that it was good up until about a week ago.

Buddy of mine hit Camper one day and said it was on fire, then next day NOT A BITE
