Renfrew end of May

Hey guys,

Am heading to Renfrew the end of May for a couple days. Not much experience there this early in the season.

I was hoping those in the know would share any general fishing plans for this time of year for both hali and salmon.

I suspect Springs on the beach would be very scratchy but are there many out at Swiftsure at this time or inshore around Hole In The Wall?

Also I assume there are some larger hali out off between Bonila and Carmanah but is it worth giving the Swiftsure hotspots a try?

Thanks.

I wouldn't bother with Swifsture, end of May can produce nice fish along the shoreline, a little deeper. As for Hali, anchor up anywhere in 140-250 feet of water anywhere around Bonila or Carmanah, the further west the better, and fish away. If you don't get hali for 3 hours, move.

If you want to give Swiftsure a try, drift the south side, but I woldn't bother.

Fished with a friend off Renfrew on Friday. It was a bit slow for halibut off Carmanah, but it has been pretty steady lately from the sounds of things.

Good news is lots of springs 10-20 pounds off the Beach. Last week there were reports of limit catches from Can Buoy to East Point...so the good news is, it appears there's some early springs around...hopefully a good sign of what's to come.

Just got back from reny this am.Salmon fishing is still very good and the hally fishing was great as well, no need to go all the way to swiftsure try in closer to shore on the pick.
