Port Alberni / Bamfield Reports - Spring and Summer 2011

Nobody knows....just go for it and maybe lots of Coho.....who knows though. Some Springs yes .Go out to Bamfield would be the best bet and poke around.

Should be both around...based on the spring fishing it could be alright until the 3rd week of Sept. inside Barkley sound :)

Last year come middle of September those big hooked nosed coho were great fighters and a nice way to end the season.

This weekend should be great for both springs and coho and other salmon out there. Still lots of pinks around and are sure fun on the buzz bombs etc.

Hey comming to the inlet tomo for the first time just looking for any info on general hotspots, plannin on launchin at china creek campgrounds is there any main spots near there?

Anyplace at all should work. Ask at the front desk for advice when you check in. Failing that, just look for the boats. You don't have to go far.

Sound the gong! Should be a good show this weekend. We will be fishing fri-sat in a 24ft skagit with a maroon soft top.
definately WILL be a gong show.. that is why I am heading home tomorrow
Monday should be entertaining with the gillnets putting in..and the sporties pulling out.

Haha yup even this morn was good fun. Had a guy in a tinny high as hell drive into the side of us while we pushed him off. Islandgirl was that you who gave us a yell after we cut you off? Had a fish on and the hardtop had a blind spot.oops.

Jesus Christ our derby luck continues. Lost the biggest spring I have played IN the net. Sounds like a fishermans tale but it somehow flipped out of the net while lifting it in. Not a derby winner but easy mid 30s money fish. Fought like a wet towel with almost no runs. Shoulda coulda... Gimme a beer.

Was thinking of going to go to China Creek after Labour Day... Will the commercial fishery be opening in that area or closer to the harbour?

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is interested in reports of sea turtles in BC
waters. By documenting sightings, we are able to learn more about how, when,
and where these turtles are using our waters. If you see a sea turtle, please

Fishers are requested to submit all dead birds entangled in nets to EC for
species confirmation and DNA analysis to determine the colony of origin.
Please call your local charter patrol to organize pick-up, drop carcasses off
at a local DFO office, or contact EC directly by calling the EC Reporting Line

Haha ya someone was On the rear steering station zoned out. That Bob Cole is a trouble maker.

No worries, hopefully we can return the kiss one day! ;)
Tell bob thanks for all the effort and work he's put in, on behalf of the sporties!

How has the fishing been from China Creek to Hokking point?

Would it be worthwhile to go to Alberni to fish there after the commercial opens after Labour Day? Or should I go elsewhere?

I Checked out the Harbour Key Big wave dave camera link this am.
Wow, whats going on with all the boats ?? Is it always like that up there??
