My first Boat!

I've ran into sand at Pitt Lake while I was in between the red and the green markers. It was the most graceful beaching ever. It slowed the boat down nice and slow, and killed the motor. No damage done, and once we floated back off of it, we were on our way. There's still hazards on Pitt Lake even if you stay between the markers. If I was looking at the GPS, I would have seen that it was shallower than the rest but you'd think you were good when you're between the markers.
Yup my Lowrance is running always. I really appreciate all this as I hope to enjoy years of safe boating. I think draw is like 4 inches like 1' 4" foot heavy load. I'm sure something will happen, hence why I started this thread, for stuff that I can expect and store in the old noggin.

Nice starter rig. That 70 Yamaha is a great engine. Just make sure you change the thermostat every couple years, in salt, and the impeller annually. Run 94 octane and stabilizer last trip, in the fall. Not much to go wrong.

Thanks. Won't run in salt. Lake boat. How much are impellers usually? 94 octane and stabilizer for last trip. Got it.

I’d still put a thermostat in it. Impeller is $40-60. Thermostat is maybe $30ish. Go to Boats.net, they have the schematics and the parts for sale.

Got her! She's here! Now the cleaning begins!

Red right returning. Red and green stay inbetween. I'd never run around a lake at WOT without knowing it but super good advice for sure. I think boat safety was instilled in me from a young age and I do have my power squadron from back in the day.
Thats terrible advice, often a red and green will mark a danger inbetween
