Shimano 2000 & 4000 GT reels are pretty bullet proof, especially with the carbontex drag washers. Love the free spool lever - wish more high end reels had them.
I have both the shimano and diawa and far prefer the diawa. So much so that I bought a second one. I found it harder to find the right drag on the shimano as you have to twist the drag knob more to get it just right.
