Hey BigGuy, your still the greatest man. I tend to be pretty extreme My statement goes beyond bottom fish. FYI down here in the States they are illegal for Salmon.
Hi Eric. I'm not sure about being the greatest at anything I would have no issues about not being allowed to use trebles for Salmon fishing, as I rarely use them anyways. Allthough I'm sure that regulation change would upset a lot of the guys who tie their anchovy rigs with trebles.
I'm not sure how many guys use trebles for bottom fishing, but I'd think it is still pretty common. I change all my drift jigs that come with a treble out to a single siwash style hook. The Gulf Island waters I bottom fish regularly have big currents and snaggy bottoms. Trebles snag up on bottom too often on drift jigging lures. So I will change those to a single on the bottom, or an assist hook rigged from the top on my jigging lures.
