..ya, I saw this mag in a doctor's office in 1990ish and took it. lol. The pic was actually taken a yr earlier in Oct.
Quite a memory alright. Fresh outa high school, first time on the ocean (northern flatlander), spent 57 days at sea on a winter charter for the Pacific Bio Stn. fishing for Blackies. They were taking scale samples, measurements, weights, etc, etc. This pic was about a month into the trip ...can you tell by the amout of growth on my face?
Was an incredible experience. Tough, tough racket back then. Was aboard the slave ship Jeanna Marie. Spent about 5 yrs on her.
Then I fished Black Cod out of San Fran for a few yrs aboard the Salty II... believe that! It was an epic journey worthy of publication. lol - 22/23 yrs old, pockets full of money, fishing outa Frisco..? ...still shake my head when I think about it ...shakin my head right now
