Bilge Pump Float Switch

I have to replace the float switch for my bilge pump due to the wires corroding. The old Rule-A-Matic Plus 40 lasted for 20+ years so I thought I would just replace like for like however I see the reviews for the new mercury free switch are pretty concerning. It appears that they are not sealed very well and this is causing some units to fail in the first season either in the closed position killing the batteries or in the open position causing high water level. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts?

mine was 12 years old, just changed it, it was getting stuck in the on position... i put a rule back in.. guess i will keep an eye on it!
