I have a lowrance 350a on my boat and its seen better days.I can still use the lowrance(barely) but would like one with chart abilities as my main GPS.I would also like to use it while hunting,So hand held is what I need .I have looked on line but would like to hear from someone with experience with these units.

Use a Lowrance I Finder Pro as a backup unit for my 337df.
Uses the same Navionics mapping chip. Never had a problem with either unit.

I have the I finder too and for the money, she's a great little unit that gets me on the spots whenever I want.

this may be an un-ethical question, but are map chips available
any other way than new at $225.00 ?
(I think thats what they told me)

Hey Frango. I guide up in the Charlottes and I used to use the I finder pro. Good unit but not waterproof. There is another unit that kicks butt. It's called the Ifinder H2O it now comes with a colour screen also and cig adapter. Works great. There is also a new unit out now with a built in compass and barometer. Pretty cool. Thinkin about gettin it too. All these units take the navionics chips.

looking at the i finder h20, difference between black/white
and color display is $100.00
is it worth it?
never had color display on a gps before

I finder H2O $279 colour and $279. for the chip. Subtract $100 for black and white. That price was at the boat show, so i don't know if its the same at fitters. Stevenston Marine has some great prices. That looks like a great unit.

the gps store in calgary looks like a good place to buy
not sure if the chip is the same though, they seem to offer at
$159.95 for southern b.c.
would this be marine as well as land mapping?

Thanks all for input.I have decided to go with the H20 color .Harbour chan in nanaimo has them for 319 but 279 for the island chip is a bit rude, but what can you do?

hey fran if your gonna go for clour h2o you should look at the expedition with the built in compass and barometer for forty bucks more. I dunno but its a choice. Navionics chips are expensive. I think my charlottes chip was like three something. Brutal.

just wondering do the batteries last as long in the colour units as the regular ones, did you check out Standard Horizon?

Those I finders are also really good if you do other outdoors activities. They have great maps for contours and road maps with forest rec roads etc and many other helpful features. I think that the Marine map is the most expensive and the other chips aren't as bad. The price for the marine chip isn't so bad if you consider what it used to cost to get all the maps from around Van Island. You used to have to purchase a chip for each area and the cost was brutal, now they are all in one chip. No doubt, this unit with the chip is one of the best investments to improve my fishing than any other gadget I have purchased in a long time. It made me see the light. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

gpscentral does not sell navitronic chips. Quote from in town dealer was $299.00 !! That is plain gouging so I'll use my ole plane gps and paper charts for now.

Sorry but you must by Navionics chips directly from them.

Hello, can you tell me if you also sell the navionics chip for south west Vancouver island and how much it is.

Much appreciated

Considering that I am into my boat for 35K, the chip was a relatively inexpensive addition to my arsenel of fishing gear, and greatly improved my success. Charts are nice but following a contour line on the chart plotter or knowing when to expect that reef and adjust your depth accordingly make things a little easier. IMO.

yea, i guess can't really argue with you there and I may yet take the plunge, but I need to rant a little first. I have to admit, when that fog rolls in thick all day it would much easier.

Wow,for a colour one??..You can get the black and white one for $99 here. I have indeed bought one(colour).I have been playing with it for a couple of days. The reports have all been right. They are an awesome unit. The only complaint I have is the sound does not go loud enough.I can barley hear it in my living room,so on the boat ??? not a chance

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get yours
and how much ?
the one on "fishin hole" looks like a black/white unit.
i understand the navionics chip is $299.00 ????

scotty

The chip is $289. The H20 I cannot say as a friend (hunting partner)in the marine business sold it to me at cost.Let me say one more time these things are great. The boat show price was $279 for the H2O
