Barkley Sound Halibut/lingcod

Hey there, kinda new to the site and im planning a trip to china creek for sockeye or a few days with a few buddys next week and thinkin about runnin out to get into some bottomfish maybe even halis. curious if there are any decent areas to try for halis without goin offshore. seem to hear of people geting the odd one while trolling for springs around cree, kirby cape beale just wonderin if anyone targets them around these areas. Ive done well with salmon ling and other bottom fish in the sound just never attempted halibut. Thanks.

I saw a nice 60lb Hali a guy in a tin boat jigged up just outside Bamfield near the whistlebuoy two years ago in June......BRS

Well insure if ya put the time in for those bottom dwellers that you will find one without going outside the sound just might take all day
