And so it begins....

And so it continues.......I got these update pictures today. Lots of things completed or on the go. The floor looks to be welded down now and just the access hatch needs to go in over the fuel tank. I can see the level sender and some of the plumbing to the tank is in. The roof supports are in and the roof panels are tacked in place. I also noticed he is getting ready to mount the anchor roller up front. He is putting a fairly healthy sized fish box on the rear transom. He builds it then notches out where it goes before it’s supported and welded in place. We talked about upholstery color options today and a few other things. The front seats are still a bit of a mystery at the moment but might end up with Shockwave seats to match the bases.....I’ll see what Santa has to say. Lol

Boat is looking great. Making good progress. Are you doing more than one locker? Does it have separation in it? One Idea I really liked was a sink on the transom that drains overboard. Makes for nice storage when fishing or for cleaning off gear/prawns etc. Fab a lid for it.

Are you doing offshore rails in the cockpit?

Hey.....no it’s just going to be one large fish box that will drain overboard. I did look at a few options and for what I do this was going to work most of the time for me. I’ve had boats with fancier things on it than this one ....but I decided when I started the build this was a more purpose built boat for me...:p. Besides sinks are more of a @Rain City thing. :)

It will have a rear station on the transom like in your pics.

Not sure what offshore rails are? If you mean just grab rails around the cockpit then no. I like the look of clean sides and don’t want rails in my way netting fish! Lol. I fish solo quite a bit and would struggle getting fish in the boat with higher sides I think. They can look good but most times I find they look like a bit of an after thought. I know on a lot of guide boats they sort of are to get the required side heights to pass inspection.

Ohhh......I see what you mean in your picture. I hadn’t planned on that as an option but it looks cool![/USER]

You need minimum 3 sinks lol.

Well it’s been awhile...trust me I know! Lol. The builder just got back from a 2 week family Mexico vacation so things are rolling again. They put a lower profile lip on the fish box lid as per my request and I think it looks good. The side sheets have been cut and shaped and they are beginning to frame it with a pipe edge. The boxes for the front seats and rear box jump seats looked to be taking shape. I can see a small glove box on the passenger side and they have the cuddy door on. The roof structure looks pretty sturdy and should keep the rain off? lol...Anways....enjoy the pictures for all that are following the thread and have a Merry Christmas!

What type of interior are you planning on? Wood? Zolotone????

Coming along very nice!

The cuddy will have 4” insulation and a headliner. The cab inside is going to be painted and the ceiling will be insulated with faux wood trim. I’m going either light grey or white for inside paint colors. The jury is still out on exterior cabin finish. Might be painted or wrapped or naked....lol. Once he finishes the cabin totally he will get quotes for me for the exterior. I do know wrapping is about 1/3 of the price of paint.

I hope he thanked you for sending him on a Mexico vacation!
He deserves it. He’s doing some great work there! The lines are beautiful!
Estimated completion date?

Haha.....I think it’s an annual family vacation. Building my boat just took some of the sting out. :) The lines of the boat is the thing that kept me looking at his boats and deciding on him in the end. No firm completion date yet but I’m guessing February??? There’s quite a bit of finishing work that will slow things a bit once the welding is all done. After that i will bring it down to SG Power in Victoria to get the Power rigged. Then I’ll rig the electronics etc.....it will be ready to fish one way or another! :D

A little News Year Eve update from the builder. Not a lot to show but he has the visor on over the windshield. I think it adds to the lines of the boat. I had a choice of a long or short one but I like the looks of the shorter one. Have a safe and Happy New Years everyone! Greg

Nice! It looks like it’s almost ready to float! Just in time for an amazing 2019 season. Have you got a slip for it?

Getting closer for sure. We have a cabin in Port Renfrew so I have annual moorage at Pacific Gateway Marina. Definitely looking forward to another great fishing season.
