Yes the westcoast is no playground much respect, mother nature doesnt care how tough you think you are she will kick your butt
Tuna fishing for me is 90% the night before decision for me if I had charters booked for them most of them would be cancelled a couple days before I was with a buddy this year and we were planning on being able to be able to fish 2 out of 10 days we had ended up getting out 4 out of 5 and came home and pulled the boat out early for the season.
I don’t charter for tuna but I can see the long term forecast being very frustrating for the captain and for the guests especially with no back up plan there is just way to many variables and changes

friends and I got out for Saturday, left from Nootka and made a long 3 hour run out to where the Tofino boats were fishing. boxed 34, lost two and one diving board when lines tangled and broke a coast lock clip. let me know if anyone out there found it floating lol?
thanks to the staff at Nootka for having them loined and frozen the next day for our departure

we lucked out on the weather for sure. choppy in the morning then glassy calm and big rollers for most of the day

Friday night we attended the welcome dinner for the Bamfield shootout. Mills Landing did a great job with the food and drinks.

Saturday was day 1 and the weather was great. Fishing was great and all the boats caught lots of fish.

Thanks to all the guys on the radio for sharing numbers and helping everyone out.

Sunday and Monday are a no go with the weather forecast but the rest of the week looks good.

Good luck.

Codfather

Team Swell Dancer is the current leader in the Bam shoot -out. i dont think its going to hold with what is looking like 3-4 more days of fishable water.
330 litres this time, 270 litres last trip. just under 1300 lbs to the dock.

Another nice day on the water today. 32 fish but only a couple over 20.

race for the blue cancelled? willie has some explaining to do.. anyone know whats up?

There was a public announcement on their site saying an incident had been reported amongst staff requiring a new manager to be brought in for the lodge. We have friends going there next week on a tuna charter and they haven't found out any further details. Apparently it was significant enough of an incident that the tournament has been cancelled as of yesterday.

Wow wonder what happened. Willie deleted his instagram... EDIT: He wasn't on the World Junior team. That wouldn't make sense age wise. He was on the World Championship team that year. Either way, something is going on.

I can’t find any information other than this. He’s been a really good guy everytime I’ve met him. My cousins were close with him during his vancouver and Minnesota days.
