In 2019 we came accross Chinooks feeding on squid, we switched over to flutter Jigs and Boom the fishing was on. We did catch them on the troll but like 1 an hour. But Jugging was the key. Now if they are feeding on squid its Jigging for me. And it's far more exciting

Where at?

The squid used to come into the inlet early season(May-June) every year up on west side of the Gwaii. We had a blast... could scoop them live from the dock and would fish from the dock with livieys honking on springs. Would go out in morning and whack bottom fish then spend the afternoons with your guests on the dock(if they were cool and down for it) wailing on chinooks with full bar service.

And what the hell does that have to do with us losers down here?! Showoff.

There’s squid in the pacific somewhere.. guess that’s about it. Bored, looking forward to a trip up the sound soon. Would report something but haven’t been out in weeks. Certainly appreciate the reports though. For those that winterization their boats... your missing out. Sashimi grade winters, prawns and crab to be had... and with way less traffic!

11-3:00 at Gardner this afternoon. 8 fish landed including 3 double headers. Skinny G glow, 200’ was the ticket. It got to blowy to fish solo. Fun action!

Any keepers ?
Unfortunately not for me. A friend had 1 keeper in 4 though. A little farther North at the south side of Hutt

Fished solo for 2 hrs at Gambier harbour. 3 fish to the boat all just under sized. 180 - 210’ with skinny Gs (outfitter)
Others were also catching fish around me. Hopefully we’ll see some larger fish soon.

Beautiful day on the water nonetheless!

We got out in the harbour today 12-3. 5 fish on, 3 just under and 2 shakers, kept us busy. Many boats out past the bell. Saw a couple of other nets out but not sure of any takers. Glad to say that I don't winterize the boat....and crabbing is also picking up.

Fished 11:30-3:30 mile markers to Bell to QB. Had 4 fish on. 2 barely under. Kitchen sink on green glow flasher at the bottom. Needle fish AP spoon on purple haze also produced. It was a bit choppy west of the bell but overall a great day to be out on the water in November. Crabbing was OK and we found 2 keepers in one trap. Can’t wait to get out to the Sound and try some prawning.

Saw some wired looking crane ship that was anchored in English bay. Anyone knows what the heck this thing is for?.
