Man we did the tour today. Lines wet at 7am at the hump. Couple hits and a couple lost. Made our way to RC and a couple more lame hits, nothing to the boat. Circled around to Hole In The Wall and double header under Chinooks right away. Visit from fisheries (a really cute girl actually) and then blank for another hour and a half. Quick pass at PA on the way home. All in all a pretty lame day of fishing. Good bbq and great weather though.

The bite died off for us just after 11 am. Was quiet until 3 and then came back on at after 3 until 5. Got into 10 chinook with kids playing most of them. Hoochie and herring aid were most productive. 80 to 90 feet was best depth in the afternoon. Only 1 wild coho all day.

Ran over from Nanaimo to Bowen on Friday night and noticed something large and dead in the water. Turned the boat around to have another look and it turned out to be a dead sturgeon. It was about 5-6' long. Can't say I've ever seen that before.
I saw the same sturgeon several days ago. Surprised it hadn’t been touched by predators and even more surprised it’s still out there floating around.

Trolled hard from 730-330 yesterday. Started at RC, did the circuit, over to worlcombe, out to the hump, trolled back in the RC and all the way to the east side of Bowen. One coho to the boat and one undersized spring in 8 hours. Pretty effing sad. Tried everywhere from 150 up to 25 deep, UV flashers, spoons and hoochies. Beautiful day out there though...

1 coho to the boat at the hump. Pretty slow.

Ground it out for 8 hours yesterday. Ended up with 3 hatchery coho. Rookies didn’t help the count. Overall great day.

Fished Cowan, CRC and The hump. Ended up hooking about a dozen but it was very slow at times. 6-8 whale boats around all harassing wildlife per usual. A few small Chinook, some “wild” coho and the odd hatchery coho. Saw a couple boats land fish. Hooked coho 30-130’ on the riggers. Same old coho gear. Overall, not on fire (for us at least) but a solid day.

Ran over the Thrasher yesterday morning. We were the only boat fishing. Pretty solid bite in the morning on blue meany hoochie and herring aid. Landed 8 Chinook and 2 Coho. Tide started pushing so moved to Grande. Got another 3 Chinook. Tried up by the fingers and only hit a couple undersize. Ran back across to Vancouver side to try for coho on way back. Hit 4 coho and 6 Chinook. Including this monster.Mark big chinook.jpg

Vancouver side meaning lighthouse or further west? Nice work out there! Headed out this morning with some kids so hopefully we can get them into a few

Well that was an unsuccessful/successful day. Fished lighthouse for about an hour with no luck, went to CRC and hooked an under Chinook, that was it....no other boats with nets out and I suspect I was simply in the wrong place wrong time. Good lunch at Smitty's and that was it.....
