I was there. Fished from 9-11. Current was crazy. Nobody could keep the boats near the mouth. Even in neautral, my downrigger lines were at 45 degrees. Everybody moved towards the middle down near the pink building. I didn't see any nets taken out. No bites for me
Was out there too, in the pack. No bites at all.

On the dock at MacDonald one guy told us he got 7 sockeye and a spring at Sandhead today. I guess we should have headed there instead of the Cap. Lol, that's fishing!

Sandheads was insane this afternoon. All depths.
Anyone got a report from SA today?

They were so thick you could see their fins through the water like a pod of dolphins.

Put 3 sox in the box at sandheads.
1 was colored up a bit and the other two were chrome also a couple of undersize springs...nice conditions... a great day to be on the water

Epic one hour of fishing today!
Fish jumping everywhere and everyone into fish around us.
Arrived at Sandheads at 2 o'clock and the rods never stopped for an hour straight. Had probably a dozen or more on and landed 4. Okay I let my two buds handle most of the first few and one was a bit new at the sockeye "get it in the boat fast and drag it in the net!" fishery. At about 3;30 everything shut down and didn't see anyone including us with a net in the water till leaving
Tried chovy tight around the green and red cans at 6 before going in but no luck. Beautiful sunny flat conditions.
Got all of our fish with gear running at 65 and 70 feet with squirts and green flashers just about a mile N/W of the green can.
Pretty impressive herd of sea lions chillin in the sun on our way out!:)

Went to the cap around 3 to catch the high at 630, stayed out of the heard for the most part seeing as I was solo. Hadn’t had any luck so I moved in and man o man did I get a tangle on trying to avoid the bigger boats who I guess feel the get the right of way do to size.

Reset everything thing and back to it, around 5:45 I had a fish on! Couple sweet runs and then I saw it! Was a beauty.

120ft of water using chovies and a twisted sister flasher I landed a 24lbs white.

Stoked.

I find that if everyone works the Cap counter clockwise it usually works out well. When heading towards the bridge make a left turn at the marker, avoid the no fishing area and troll west on the inside. Make counter clockwise circles, don't go too far into the shipping channel.

Of course some doofus is going to try and go the other way, can't teach stupid.

It’s not so much the banana that’s the problem but 29-6 got lumped into it.
29-6 was easily fished with car toppers launching from the ferry causeway, it’s a very productive area for small boats.
I caught a 36 lber in a 12ft aluminum, in tight almost trading paint with the coal ship on the end berth.

North America’s busiest coal port, Roberts bank “Superport” and BC Ferries, but we can’t fish there because fishing boats are disturbing the whales
Ha...so true

Anyone fishing sandheads this am? Were making a late run across from ladysmith due to a cancelled tuna trip. Water is like glass out here.

Absolute beauty day out there. Will be making our way out shortly. Bite was HOT around 2 yesterday.
Hopefully no seines today.

Will tell you tomorrow when I drop the kid off in the morning.

So...what's the update? I haven't been to that beach in a couple weeks but I did get a chance to talk to one of the guys working on the site. It should have opened about 3 weeks ago but I haven't gone to check it out myself.

Beautiful day at SH. Not sure why these photos always flip sideways. It’s not me. Some issue with the way photos get downloaded on this app
