Headed out around 6 tonight and fished till dark.. Starting hitting coho consistently around 7:30 till dark. Got limits for the two of us. All fish were caught @ 17' in 23' of water between the pink apartments and the beach house. All on purple haze flasher and white glow squirt.. Lost 3 or 4 at the boat. Made for a great night!! Also picked up two on Sunday night running the same gear but out deeper. Will be back out Friday night and early sat morning..

Nice GK! I see it's coho time so I'm up for that.

Fished Howe sound yesterday, dropped the traps and hit portou cove for our first tach. Picked up 2 undersize with not much showing. Moved over to Defence Islands and hit a beauty wild coho off the hop and another undersiZe.

Wind started blowing about 20 making it difficult to tach with the tide not helping. Decided to move to hole in the wall and test the water there. Hit 2 undersiZe then a quality, 20 plus that came out of the water 5 times. After a 10 minute battle the hook popped a hundred yards back on the surface.
Definitely some options out there. Decided not to share the 1 prawn we caught and threw back the 1 keeper crab.

Went out for a couple hours of coho fishing off West Vancouver tonight. We went 3 for 6 but it was a little frustrating given the amount of fish showing. Two fish were on white hoochies at 20 ft and the third was on a kingfisher spoon at 27 ft.

Went out to Epsom tonite. Been a cpl days waiting for the wind to settle. Hit our first spring not even 5 mins after setting, 8lb chromer! 20 mins later, 15 lbr slammed the chovie!! 2 for 2!! Love this place!image.jpg

Out tonight! Picked up 5 coho. White glow squirt with various flashers. We were running a lake rod with a 6oz weight and cookies and cream. If it go a hot I was putting a life jacket on a playing the fish at its level... Never happed tho!

Damn, I hoping to see some shots of that!

Anyone have a good view or are on the water?? Enviro can is all over the place this weekend...day trips on the water have me in the car for close to 3-4 hours of travel time so if anyone is oot thurr...whats it looking like? :D

...ok...c u soon.

We fished west van from 6 to 4. We got 1 hatchery out of 7 coho we had to the boat. None after about one thirty. Contrary to enviro canada reports it was a beautiful day.

We got a nice Coho buck around noon just off the cap. First one of the season, and first blood on the deck of the boat. Third trip out and we got lucky. Saw about five others caught around the same spot within ten minutes. Then nothing.

Interesting...our lines went down at 1:30 lol

We were out from 8-8 had a shot at 8-10 solid hookups but our conversion rate sucked boated 1 coho and 1 spring.
On the other hand I had a friend and his young nephew from Manitoba neither of which fished salmon or or even been on the salt before , the kid boated the small spring and my buddy boated the coho
Perma smiles for the rest of the day,
My 8 year old daughter hooked up 3 and had all 3 spit right at the boat,
Last was a decent spring which I never realized till we seen it, that was mid afternoon.
We trolled the rest of the afternoon trying to get her into another but never happened, probably give her another shot tonight
Tim

went back out again tonight for a couple hours, release 1 undersize and lost a Dandy that ripped it right out of the rigger
had it on long enough to feel a pretty major head shake and it fell off.
1 on a white squirt at 33 the other on a reg white hootchy at 33
from fisheries to west bay.
heard of a few others while I was out,
water turned pretty nasty around 7:30ish so we headed in,
back out tomorrow to give it another go, starting to get a little frustrated with all these fish falling off lately
even changed up my hook size and kept them sticky tonight to combat it

Out tonight for the evening with angelina summer. Landed two hatch cohos just west of pink apartments. Water definitely was bumpy on the way back across english bay.

Both fish at 18' on green splatter back hootchies.

CRAB TRAP FOUND West Van !!!
My main reason for this post is not a report as nothing special yesterday afternoon with 2 boxed coho and 2 lost fish at the boat and 2 others at the hit. fishing 11-3 and then again 5-7 so pretty slow for us as compared to morning reports and during last week ( I heard while I was away in Alaska last week)
What I want to report was the bigger catch yesterday as I hooked onto a sunken crab float. The line looks to have been in the water for a few weeks as it has small muscle growth to the typical 15-20' depth. I pulled the trap to get my gear back and was successful getting everything including all my gear , the trap , line and float. so....... I have it now.
The float has a name and number but I have called the number and it states unlisted number. I will be out at the boat this week to check number again but in the meantime please contact me if this is your trap - way out off west Van and looks to have been in water maybe a few weeks or longer due to muscle growth on rope - describe trap type and name on float and you can pick it up ( all rinsed and stored ! )
Tip : use larger floats !! ...as in the currents and chop in this location a small float will go under the water and be hidden to fishers like myself !

Cheers and hopefully the owner will get this back....

Fished from 10 to 4 today. Finally got the stink off the boat. Got a low teen spring on a white hoochie at 30 feet while I was fishing by myself. Picked up a friend and got another smaller spring. The third one was too small and got thrown back. A few bites during the rest of the day. Just want to say thanks to all the posters on this forum. I have been learning a lot from friends and this forum in the last year.
