X marks the (general) spot haha I was heading east towards Stanley Park, riggers around 140' or so. They spooled up to the boat to about 25' before it was a hassle. Backed down some more, did a couple of quick drops and released one, the other wouldn't so I put the gloves on and hand bombed it to the boat. The rope must be long bit I manged to get my cannon ball back.

I was going to chop the rope in half to see if that would help but it slipped away and I was outta there.

The names on the freighters probably have changed since last Thursday but the berth locations won't so you get the idea cheers.

Thanks a lot Ab. Thats super appreciated

I’m in the middle of a tough streak. Skunked again today, for the third trip in a row. Started at Roger Curtis at 0820 and fished Tunstall and area for the morning, then back out around RC and trolled back along the south end of Bowen to finish the day. Pulled the gear at 2. Best bait was east of Roger Curtis.

I got smoked twice in the past few weeks on the same troll, fish seem deeper in towards the sound. Going to give it another shot mid-way this week, sloooow for me during December so I gotta make it happen before sheet hits the fan in January haha

Dooooo it. I hit right where it dropped off from 140-200 heading west out of the bay. Kind of dragged along that contour. Just finished bleeding the first one when the second went off. Two hours before high tide.
did a few passes in tunstall yesterday nothing for over a hour so i moved up to the falls and hooked into five unders on a skinny g outfitter all were just short but great fiesty fighters also got a few prawns

Fairly new to fishing with a downrigger. I’m sorry to sound like a noob. Are the falls just a mile North of tunstall? Or is it by hutt island. I will be out on Tuesday and want to make the best of it. I will make a report probably on my first time rigging errors...

Mile north of tunstall between tunstall and hutt

The fish mark on the picture is roughly The Falls. Find a contour and stay close to the bottom or where you see bait. Good luck!7436F5F9-DB72-475A-B53E-0AC6C2304DE7.png

Getting the gear ready to head out, planning to get the crab and prawn traps in as well. It’ll be a little colder than the last time out so I’ll have to see how long the kids will last. Looking to catch the tide change at noon and will try around the cap again. Maybe the bell buoy too. Will let you know how it goes. Merry Xmas!

I will be heading to the waterfalls. Thinking about starting at hutt and working my way toward tunstall. Will report back
I find my catch rate to be MUCH less when doing that. Pick a spot, find some bait and hit it hard, don't get off it. Circle, circle, circle and change speeds and depths. If no luck then move. If you hit some little guys just stay there. Good luck.

You need some flutter jigs and bang em on the head in those bait balls, some times that works ....... Don't be scared to try. I tried it while in Bam and now thats the only way I'll fish for them there , far more productive ,especially for the ones hugging the bottom and not moving that much and not touching a troll in a couple of hours , nothing to loose
. Just my 2 cents . Tight lines , thanks for reports

Sorry for my ignorance: what is a “ flutter jig “ ? I googled it and I’m getting thousands of different styles and options
Cheers

Great day in the harbour yesterday. Hooked up when I was dropping lines. Although we lost it, thought we were in for a productive. Not so much. That was the last sniff we had. Couple other boats out by us but didn't see any action or nets. No crabs off Jericho for us but a decent prawn haul off Thunderbird. 20C2BD9F-267A-4205-A444-1A95DE8DCC57.jpeg
