5.7 Ltr. Vortec for towing

I am looking at a used Yukon with a 5.7 Ltr. Vortec for towing my 25' Pursuit. The weight of the boat on the marine survey is 5500 lbs. Add the weight of the trailer 1500 lbs (aprox.) plus fuel weight and other gear 1500 lbs (aprox.). for a total of 8000 lbs. Is the 5.7 powerful enough or should I be looking for something with more power? I don't want a pick-up.

Yes, the 5.7 is strong enough. What about the suspension/tow capacity of the Yukon?
I have the 2005, with the on board air compresser, I believe G.M. calls it a level ride. Most Yukons, other than the XL, don't have a very high tow capacity.

Hello Labman
Thanks for the info. Upon further investigation the Yukon does not have the needed suspension for towing that much weight. Back to the drawing board.
