Trolling for chum...any tips?

Hey there.
Thinking that I may try to take a crack at trolling for chum salmon. (or any salmon for that matter)
Sounds like most folks around the lower mainland are catching a couple here and there right now while looking for coho and chinook.
Does anyone have any tips on how to target them specifically?
I've heard slow (as in so slow that your flashers stop rotating and become dodgers), and then essentially sockeye gear(Michael bait?), maybe something in a more purple colour?

Does this sound about right?

Used to troll them commercially. Dead slow , barely turning flasher. If you have trouble going slow , turn lots to get inside gear almost falling... Purple octopus hootchie are best , but sockeye/pink gear will work as well.
