I am considering putting a suicide knob on my steering wheel which runs hydraulic steering to an outboard. Are there any known issues with this or things to watch for?

yes there is a huge issue with a suicide knob. Because you can turn the wheel so much quicker, i have lost at least a dozen beer out of my drink holder

Can't live without it. Just make sure you get a stainless steel one. I had one on that wasn't and it lasted on season. Seadog makes a reasonably priced SS model, available through marine dealers like Trotac, Sherwood, Lakes Marine, Harbour Chandler, etc.
