I always start as deep as I can with anchovy 6ft of leader. I let the other guys try the upper reaches-I always fish as close to the bottom as I can. Only if the other guys start hitting fish in 120 or 160 do I come up. LOL

dummy flasher at ball 4' back,,, 10' up from that and 15-20' feet back a small spoon.. hit bottom going slow and speed up,, repeat.

or look for bait at different depths, usually 150' plus.... 2.5-3.5 mph.. 18-20lb balls...... GOOD LUCK OUT THAR!!

Iron Needle Lures were developed specifically for this purpose ;) Dummy flasher, and a big spoon....nobody likes to drag around shakers at 200'

At really deep depths (>200'), I like a pearlescent tomic plug about 15' back from the ball. I don't run any flasher at those depths due to the increased blowback. You'd be surprised at how many big springs hang out down at 300-350' near the edge of the continental shelf.
