Poacher Busted...

This was the scene down at French Creek Marina this afternoon. I watched as this boat approached the ramp to leave the harbour when he carved a donut and sped out to exit the harbour. I noticed that there was a Fisheries Officer at the top of the ramp checking people as they were coming and going. Shortly after, this boat was escorted in by the RCMP boat... things were about to get interesting. It turns out that this guy had 8 Chinooks on board and only two people in the boat. Well, he lost his downriggers, fishing rods, tackle, and salmon for sure. interestingly, his fishing buddy left with 2 of the Chinooks? I don't know what kind of fines he will face, but I hope they are hefty. The guy has a bit of a reputation for this, and is quite ignorant too. To top it all off he's a retired RCMP. I wouldn't call that a respectful "Fishin' Time".

*Edited by Last Chance* . Sticking his pic up before his day in court does expose this site to some liability. The thread is fine, I'm just taking the pic down.

Good! he should loose his boat&truck aswell ! It's A-holes like this that ruin it for the rest of us law abiding fisher people, You do not in my opinion bag eight chinooks in one outing without running meatlines, probably someone out there was sick of seeing him with the extra shakey downrigger! there is no sport in that what so ever, and the fact that he is retired RCMP they should throw the book at him even harder! BRAVO the DFO that bagged the poacher ! a job well done!

I also wanted to mention that when I was talking to the Fisheries Officer he was cleaning the confiscated fish. I asked what was going to happen to the salmon. He told me that they would be taken to a local food bank or hospital for food. Glad they wont be wasted.

I'd say it hit him right in the nuts! cant imagine his rods tackle and downriggers were to cheap to replace..But that's what he deserves for thinking he is above the Law.!

I'm glad to see/hear that. It's good to see the system works once in a while. It also takes a story like this, every now and then, to keep others who might be thinking about it, honest....

you may want to clarify if the fellow in the picture walking with his hands in his pockets was involved or not...if he's just a passer-by that should be pointed out.

Perhaps a lynching might be in order .......... . Caught and convicted by the paparazzi.
Guilty until proven innocent ......... .
Sure glad I do not live in one of those countries where there are no human rights.
I'm even happier that we are so quick to give up those rights.
You better hope this is not Brian Burke.

Glad we live in a society where its not forbidden to relay events of the day.
Like one of those countries where cell phones are banned, and internet forms don't exist and access to the internet is denied or strictly controlled.
Or one of those places where someone can imprison people for a decade in a home, and no one says anything, asks any questions.
Way better where everyone just keeps their head down, doesn't notice or say anything about anything to anyone.
Just carry on folks, nothing to see here...

The moderators should be pulling this post down.

Poaching is bad, illegal, ruins things for everyone etc... completely agree.

Posting defamatory comments on a public forum, along with addresses and photos of people who you suspect are guilty, but who have not had their day in court is also illegal. Google the Boston Bag Men case or yes, the Brian Burke defamation lawsuit.

If I were the posters above, I'd be Editing my posts about now... also note how many posts the OP has had on this forum...

Better point J-Global. Don't worry about the bleeding hearts. If there was no problem then why are his downriggers and fishing rods being confiscated, that is a fact. The reason, he is being accused of poaching.
