Need advise for September Coho fishing

I'm new to the Vancouver Island fishing scene and would appreciate any advise on tackle and fishing hotspots in September for Coho. We are boating from San Juan Island up to Campbell River and plan to let the fishing determine our route and schedule.

I'd be glad to share any informtion on fishing the lower Columbia River in return.
