Depends on size of boat and where you are staying
French creek is all tides, lots of parking and any size boat
We rented an air BNB in nanoose bay and working in Nanaimo. Have a 17 ft arima. Not too familiar with the area . How’s French creek for fishing this time of year ?

If you are staying in Nanoose area, you could launch at Fairwinds marina and short trip out to fishing around the Winchelsea area. Don't fish that area, but should be good there. A lot of people mention Gerald Is.

How’s the fishing and boat launches around nanoose bay? Working over on the island for the month of March wondering if I should bring the boat. Thanks in advance
My fishing buddy and I will be mooring our boats in Schooner Cove starting some time in March. We will be fishing the Gerald, Ballenas, Mistaken area while retention is still open. If you see someone shivering in a small Boston Whaler CC, maybe we can swap information.

Got out yesterday afternoon for first fish of the season for myself. A bit windy so we fished from the humps to the harbour mouth with wind on our tail. Kept a couple nice eaters and released another 8 or so. Also some nice grey cod out there too.

Fished the humps this afternoon. Released a few shakers and had a few long line releases. Tons of herring inside the humps and an active spawn all around French Creek. Beauty day none the less.

Finally got a keeper, 225 down in 300’ water off Ballenas, white hootchie
Both on white hootchies 225’
Crab theives are at Raft Trevor. Was heading to check my traps and some a-hole took off like a bat out of hell. Got a crappy pic and was not going to chase them
One trap empty and one with a couple keepers. Definitely moved my traps and the boat prop wash was at my floats when I got there.

I just gave up on Rathestrevor today after doing well for a while. I also noticed a lot more sun stars this year than last year.
Have you tried the gap at Winchelsea? There was a lot of bait and fish showing a couple of days ago, but I had no luck that day.

I gave winchelsea a shot on Thursday evening but the wind came up quick so only fished an hour. One under. It has been slow for me but heard mistaken at 200-250 has been good.
I lucked out today for salmon.
Definitely going to hunt around for a new crabbing spot. Hate sitting on my traps or worrying they are going to be stolen or pulled.
