Canucks 2021 Season

It has been a long time since I have seen a Rugby Scrum goal quite like that one.

Intresting discussion on the continuing Canucks Cap problems as Demko will now command bigger dollars first, followed by Boeser who is playing great and then the new kids etc.

Did not catch the details but apparently another team has just found a loophole to beat the Cap. It will be interesting to see if Bettman lets it slide while continuing to unfairly and excessively punish the Canucks. Time for him to be replaced.
the loophole is basically that the cap isn't in effect for the playoffs and TB is taking full advantage with their top player ready to come back and is just practicing with the team which has some of the other teams crying the blues. the canucks could bring tryamkin and pod over and just have them practice till the playoffs, lol.

Demko played great and could be the best goalie in the league right now, definitely a top 3. they played rope a dope again with a tired team and took advantage in the end. the scrum goal imho is the best goal of the season so far with the way they all showed some grit in front of the net, I have no friggin idea as to how they figured out the 2 assists on that one, lol.

It was also great to see a few canucks actually paste a few dmen to the boards on the forecheck, it seemed like this was maybe one of the canucks more physical games of the year that way, they need it consistently. it's too bad they got to the low point of having to put #21 back in the line up, put that little **** hughes on the forward line for a game. it's pretty sad when on the power play it seems their best option is a point shot from hughes thru 7 or 8 guys . great result considering the injuries. the ottawa games should be interesting as ottawa will be looking for some revenge after what happened here, lol.

it’s Kucherov with Tampa Bay. They put him on LTIR due to surgery and he’s back practicing with the team. they’ll get him back for the playoffs where there is no cap. i think it’s much ado about nothing but the optics don’t look good. maybe i’m missing something though.

what bothers me more about the cap recapture is zero pushback from management or ownership. zero. none. that stupid deal was signed legally under an old cba. and canucks as usual have to pay the price. it’s exhausting

Totally agree that it was great to see a few pastings. In particular Macewen in the first. Limited ice time but I like his aggressiveness as it is why he should remain in the line up. As for the shameful Eriksson, no comment as money speaks I guess.
Until the forwards start moving their feet on the stagnant power play the only real option is back to Hughes with a low percentage shot or a predictable over to EP40 for a one timer. They need some new wrinkles instead of this robotic system that doesn't necessarily show their individual skill sets.
Should be interesting like you say in Ottawa. 3 games in 4 nights for Ottawa. Leafs today.

We must just about be at the point where hating Bettman and explaining at least three ways how he is screwing Canadian teams will become part of the citizenship exam, lol. Not like I'm a Bettman fanboi but some of the conspiracy theories are epic.

Wow, I thought the Montreal debacle was the seasons worst effort. Ottawa deserved much better and poor Demko again stood tall. Canucks gifted Ottawa the neutral zone all night and our defence couldn't make a stick to stick pass if their lives depended on it. A little better in the 3rd but got it done in OT. Although I thought Miller was off all night but he wasn't the only one. On the tying Ottawa goal that was puck watching Eriksson's man. On to Wednesday night I guess.

I don't think they'll win another game on this road trip, none of the forward lines can keep the puck for any more than a few seconds in the offensive zone, it was really bad imho. just a real lack of effort by too many canucks, some of the older guys just seem tired, time to give more rookies a shot imho. maybe they should just kill penalties all game, it seems to be the only thing they are good at, lol. Demko is a hero and must be getting pissed off at the rest of them.

You could see that at the end of the second period-less than 10 seconds left and Ottawa was pressing-the Canucks OTOH were standing around in their own zone just waving their sticks at anyone near the puck and waiting for the clock to run out-disgraceful.

I agree.... don't think they are going to have a winning road trip

Agree as well but always a glimmer of hope as on occasion the Canucks do surprise me. Something is definitely wrong in that dressing room as the effort again is pee wee hockey. The word is out and every team has our system pegged and the coaching staff has chosen to stay the course and let Demko save the day. Unreal and not sustainable.
Looks like Calgary has righted the ship for now with Sutter taking over. Lucic has found his game and is moving up the lineup. If only Eriksson could do the same. Wouldn't that be something!

I thought Travis Green was great in last year's playoff run.
But now I am not so sure.
It is always easy being an optimist with a winning team!

I still like him but not as much, lol, he's done a few questionable things, last year he never did really play toffoli with pearson even though they had great past chemistry, and he just seems to not mix certain guys up as much as others when times are tough. I do think he's still worth keeping but I think his contract will be less than it would have been last year.

we might have motte back tonight, he is a huge missing piece right now, that guy is worth his weight in gold, would love to see him get a shot at playing higher up the line up.

Our hero from tonight is an excellent dancer.
Unless his skating improves Gaudette needs to reconsider kicking his wife somewhere, she's far too attractive to be a hockey wife. LOL
As for game take the win but Montreal and Toffoli (17 goals) will be a big challenge if the Canucks continue to rely on Demko.

Delighted with the gutsy OT win and with a 21- 1-5 loss record against the Habs let's face it it wasn't going to be easy. Between a late poor power play, Virtanen's stupidness and some very questionable referring the tying goal was gifted to Montreal.
Vesey looked pretty good bringing size to the lineup.Strong game from Sutter and overall defence. Good team win.

The Canucks deserved to win especially considering that was some of the worst one sided officiating I have seen in a long time. Outragious really and no way the Habs deserved even a single point with the no call obvious high stick on Myers with blood on his face near the end. Then there was their first goal after the tripping call on Roussel where the offical just assumed there was a trip when there was not and a number of others. Sure the refs make mistakes and most times they try and balance it out, but not this game.

It was nice to see them not give up 40 shots

geesh, no wonder he lacks energy some games

lousy to have to give the Habs a point though. We can't afford to give them or CGY any....
