Yamaha 9.9 trouble

spring time

I got a 1998 9.9 high thrust, and when I was flushing the motor a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a sheen on the drive way. So I lifted the cowling and gas was coming out of hole on the top of the carburetor. I have search the web and have found nothing, so before I send it in I would ask the experts here.

No expert but I have worked on Yam 9.9's. It sounds like the float is not pushing the needle valve closed in the carburetor bowl.

I owned a few of those types.
Try not to squeeze the primer bulb.
Good advice re the needle vale to the carb float, probably green crystal of corrosion from water on that needle and seat.
Check in line filter near fuel pump, and back blow to clean it.

The plate on the top of the carb has a rubber seal. Remove the plate clean and inspect the seal, when you reinstall the plate don't over tighten the screws and make sure the seal is reinstalled in the same way it was removed.
