winter harbour reports

Heading up to winter harbour next week. Were mainly heading for halibut and bottom fish. Are they biting?How about the salmon?

Just heard from a friend, big tides meant bottomfishing was so/so and Spring fishing was poor, this was Friday noon.

The weather this last weekend was rough with the exception of Sun am. The commercial boys have been having a tough time of it up there, 2-6 springs a day when they can get out. Not good.

 

[North Island]

Wonderful day today. We never made it out of the Sound, because we found the Springs on the way out. We caught 2- 15+ lb-ers within the first hour, and a few smaller ones that went back later on. Back at the dock, another boat came in who had been out. They had no Salmon, but lots of bottom fish and a small halibut.

The wind has been kicking up in the afternoons, mornings is the time to get out there.
